Science writing

We are learning about bread there are lots of different kinds of bread like white bread and seed bread (did you know white bead has more sugar then other bread). Cooked  bread is called toast. Toast is a yum breakfast. My favorite bread is home made bread. Enjoy my scrumptious bread.

I woke up in the morning and searched around for a bag of bread. In the cupboard I found lots of ingredients for yummy food. Time to do some bread cooking. I wonder what you need to cook bread.  Did you know Yeast helps the bread rise? One of the most important ingredients is flour.

Have you ever made bread before?

Ingredients
1 ⅓ cup of flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 teaspoon of yeast
½ cup warm water not hot
1 tsp oil

Method
1 Blend the flour, sugar and yeast together in a bowl.

2  Pour in the oil and the water stir for one minute.

3 Check if your dough is sticky ( if not sticky add a bit more water.)

4 Combine for 5 minutes.
5 Spray the bench with cooking spray and flatten the dough on the bench.

6 Knead the dough firmly until it is smooth (don’t over knead.)

7 Shape the dough into a fun shape so it’s ready to go into the oven.

8 Cover with towel for 25 minutes to let it rise.

9 Preheat the oven  to 175 degrees.

10 Bake for 25 minutes or until the dough is golden.

It is inportent (important) to add yest unless you wan't your bread to be flat because yeast helps bread rise.
(this is delicious bread)

perimeter

I am proud of my learning because I learnt lots of new things.
Totara Whanau are learning about perimeter. Perimeter is the out side of a shape. What we are doing is drawing a rectangle then picking a number for the bottom and the top of the rectangle then picking a number for the tow sides. For the top and bottom for example:

I might put 467 and for the sides I might put 45 then we had to add the numbers up but I had to show my thinking because the teachers are clever but they can't see inside your head. We also did something called the splits when we split the  numbers into the hundreds tens and ones. Next time I think I could try adding up bigger numbers.
